When I first started my research to figure out how to go about doing spay-neuter in a much greater way worldwide, as you might imagine, I was a bit overwhelmed and not at all sure where to start. So I decided to take a step back and start a little closer to my home which is near Albuquerque, New Mexico. We have a human population of about 700,000 in the greater area and about 30,000 dogs and cats entering our shelters and rescues here.

New Mexico has just as big a problem as Houston, if not bigger. And New Mexicans need to care enough to save their own homeless pets, because no one is watching us like they are watching Houston. At least for now.

It has been over 150 years since the first dog pounds appeared in America. Dogs and cats were rounded up and killed just because they had no monetary value.
America does not need dog pounds anymore. Why? Because we value our pets – both dogs and cats. Americans will spend #86 billion this year,in America alone, on their pets!
